ROCKSTAR’s Mike Brown Looks To Defend Podium Finish at Southwick
Last year Brown was 2nd overall in 125 class, teammate Jason Lawrence shined as well in first moto with a 7th overall
CORONA, Calif., (June 8, 2006) – Mike Brown leads the ROCKSTAR Suzuki program into Southwick, Mass., this weekend for Round Three of the 2006 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship. Brown, the defending 2nd place finisher, put on a consistent 3-4 moto finish on one the most trying race days of the year.
“All I can remember was how hot it was,” said Brown. “Southwick’s definitely one of the most difficult environments we’ll race in all year. The lines change constantly on the track, it gets rougher to ride every lap and there’s always a chance the sand can get caught up in your bike and do all kinds of damage. So yeah, Southwick’s going to be tough.”
Brown’s ROCKSTAR Suzuki teammate, Jason Lawrence, will definitely be up to the task at Southwick. Last year, in his first-ever 125 National, Lawrence turned all sorts of heads when he blazed out from relative anonymity to a top ten (7th) place finish in the first moto.
“I’ve had almost two weeks after High Point to train in the sand, so I’m looking forward to getting back after it at Southwick,” said Lawrence. “I feel like I have some unfinished business there.”
Ryan Mills, ROCKSTAR Suzuki’s MX class entry, will be back at it at Southwick after missing out on High Point due to a bout with food poisoning. Last year Mills was 18th overall at Southwick, with a solid 13th place finish in the second moto.
Heading up the AMA Motocross class for ROCKSTAR Suzuki will be Sean Hamblin. Hamblin’s coming off a come-from-behind top ten finish in the first moto last week at High Point and will look to crack the top ten overall at Southwick.
