The Johnsons Are at it Again in Denver
Shawn Clark wins AMA Arenacross Lites win
AURORA , Ill. , ( February 10, 2006 ) It was high drama at the
historical Denver Coliseum. Brock Sellards and Chad Johnson rolled in
to the Mile High City tied in points for the final weekend of Toyota
Arenacross. Team Faith’s Kevin Johnson got off to a great start by
winning the $500 Weekend Warrior Holeshot award and leading ever lap on
his way to victory.
It was the battle for the second, third, and fourth position that kept
the Colorado crowd on the edges of their seats. Brock Sellards started
third behind teammate Jeff Northrop but soon made the pass to follow
Kevin Johnson for nearly 18 laps. That's when Sellards had a chance to
make a pass on the leader.
In the Toyota Hairpin, Sellards put a wheel inside of Kevin Johnson
but backed off. On the next lap, both Sellards and Chad Johnson got
together causing Sellards to blow the turn and ultimately finishing
fifth. Chad Johnson would coast to a second and gained five valuable
points with one race to go.
The winner will receive a share of $100,000 and a new Toyota truck.
The Denver area provided the Toyota Arenacross Lites class with some
impressive talent. Grand Junction ’s Mitch Carroll got the holeshot and
led for sometime until Arenacross regular Shawn Clark made the pass to
win the Lites main event. Lakewood, Colorado ’s Bobby Fitch finished
third.
