Smith Optics announces 2006 lineup
With 2006 quickly approaching, Smith Optics would like to announce some of our line up for the new season of racing. From Supercross & Motocross to Off-road with the X Games stars in between, this upcoming year, Smith Optics has you covered.
A new addition to Smith Optics is David Vuillemin. The 28 year old BooKoo Honda rider has made a lot of changes in his 2006 program and Smith is proud to have him on board through 2007 as he kicks off the Amp’d Mobile Supercross Series. From his new home in Texas, David Vuillemin joked, “A new team and new bikes, to a new home state, I like the direction Smith is going in, so why not change goggles too?”
Vuillemin joins Mike & Jeff Alessi and the Star Racing team when the series kicks off January 7th at Anaheim Stadium.
Smith Optics is also extremely happy to announce we have signed the icon that is Travis Pastrana for two more years that will see him going after more Gold at the Summer X Games and as he follows his four-wheel dreams in the World of Rally Car racing. “The Smith people are like a family and it was an easy decision to continue with them,” added Pastrana.
Other FMX riders in Smith Optics include Kenny Bartram, Tommy Clowers, Matt Buyten, Adam Jones and Jeff Tilton.
Kawasaki Team Green recently renewed their contract with Smith Optics for two more seasons that will see them promoting the Smith brand throughout the 2007 season. Team Green Manager Reid Nordin said, “We are in a new era for Team Green and we look forward to working with the people from Smith for years to come.”
A rider to keep an eye out for in 2006 will definitely be Washington’s Josh Hill as he will be sporting Smith through the 2008 season. “We are really trying to brand our riders and a superstar like Josh, he was a no-brainer to sign him to a multi-year deal,” said Smith Optics Promotions Manager Denny Stephenson. “The young rider is the future of the sport and we are proud he chose us.”
Finally, no team is complete without a legend like Ryan Hughes. As he wraps up one chapter of his career, he begins another in the ’06 World Off Road Championship Series (WORCS) this coming January. “The WORCS races are long and demanding and the last thing I wanted to worry about was my goggles, so signing with Smith was an easy decision for me,” added Ryno.
Nathan Woods, Rodney Smith, Barry Hawk, Fred Andrews, Josh McLevy & Kellon Walch fill out an incredible off-road team of riders.
With so much talent on the track, in the woods and in the air, expect to see Smith Optics everywhere in 2006.
