AURORA, Ill. (December 1, 2005) - Clear Channel Entertainment's Motor Sports division today announced the broadcast team for the 2005-'06 Amp'd Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series that airs on SPEED Channel and CBS Sports. Color analyst Denny Stephenson and play-by-play host Ralph Sheheen will call the racing from the booth, while pit reporter Krista Voda catches the action from the floor.
Stephenson won the 1990 AMA Supercross Series' 125cc Eastern Region championship and brings a host of motocross experience to the table. The former Suzuki factory rider has eight 125cc supercross wins to his name. Following his supercross career, Stephenson enjoyed an illustrious AMA National Arenacross Series career.
"In 1986 I sat in the stands for the Anaheim supercross to witness what many feel is one of the best races ever," said SPEED color analyst, Stephenson. "Rick Johnson and David Bailey battled back and forth and two legends were born. With 2006 shaping up to be an instant classic, I am honored to be given this opportunity 20 years later."
Sheheen, the signature voice of SPEED's motorcycle racing coverage and AMA Superbike, has played a major role in the broadcasting efforts of all motor sports, including Formula One and pit reporting for the Daytona 500. He began his broadcasting career in 1988, having worked with many different sports and entertainment networks over the past 17 years including ESPN, ESPN2, Fox Sports Net, TBS, TNT, NBC, TNN, and CBS. Sheheen and his wife, Kimberly, reside in North Carolina.
The most recent accomplishments for Amp'd Mobile Supercross's pit and podium reporter, Krista Voda, include stints with hit shows Totally NASCAR and NASCAR Nation while handling the pit reporting for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for SPEED Channel. Voda has also spent time in front of the camera for The Best Damn Spots Show Period and ACC Basketball in addition to covering the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals and the Kentucky Derby at WLEX in Lexington, KY. A 10-year veteran in broadcast journalism, Voda rounds out the diverse team in 2005-'06.
"We are excited to be working with a broadcast team that has so much diversity in Ralph Sheheen, Denny Stephenson and Krista Voda," said Ken Hudgens, vice president of marketing and television, Clear Channel Entertainment - Motor Sports. "With Denny's experience as a professional supercross racer, Ralph's vast experience in motor sports and Krista's work with NASCAR, we have a team that can relate to everyone from the core fan to the first-time viewer."
The team will cover all 17 Amp'd Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series races in 2005-2006 that will air on SPEED Channel and CBS Sports. The AMA Supercross races that air on SPEED Channel and CBS Sports will receive next-day original airings. The AMA Supercross Lites races will be shown later in the same week.
