DMXS Tonight!
Well, both rounds of the Arenacross series are over and the world is
still turning. I guess the rumors of the implosion were greatly
exaggerated. We at DMXS have great friends in both series, and respect
what each promoter is trying to do. Therefore, we will appreciate the
great racing, cover both series, and leave the politics to others. For
those fans near a race, I encourage you to attend and show some love
for those riders that are trying to make a living at a sport we all
love.
I knew someone was going to eventually break my record, and last week
it finally happened. Monster Energy’s Ryan Capes broke the elusive
300-foot barrier when he landed the record-breaking 310' jump at
Pacific Raceway’s Park in Kent, Washington. For those of you that saw
the incredible video, Ryan used up every inch of the landing ramp, and
was very close to flat landing after flying the length of a football
field on a CR250. I’m sure Ryan is jumping something tonight, but we
will have him on for an interview after he lands to break down this
incredible milestone.
Travis Pastrana is about to unleash the latest installment of his Nitro
Circus Trilogy. It does not have the special effects of a Star Wars
movie. No, this is 100% real carnage and ball-busting good times filmed
for your amusement. Make sure every stocking has one in it this year
with the bold disclaimer, "DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME" clearly visible.
Travis has also been competing in the Rally Car Series, and has been
doing quite well with a podium finish in the final round. We will catch
up with our good friend and see what fun things he has planned in the
near future including his participation in the Race of Champions where
he will compete in a car against the likes of Michael Schumacher,
Rossi, Loeb, and Gronholm.
The Shogun Factory Yamaha rider, Chad Johnson, has swept both rounds
and finds himself sitting in first place of the Toyota AMA Arenacross
Series. He has a comfortable lead now, but with eight rounds remaining,
and veterans like Sellards and Schnell giving chase, any thing can
happen. Chad has some time for us this week since the series is taking
a week off before heading to Charlotte, NC on the 18th. Josh Woods
shares a three-way tie for the lead in the K&N Filter BooKoo
Arenacross Series after the opening round, and that is incredible
considering he was literally a last second replacement for an injured
rider. Josh has paid his dues in this sport, and hopes this kind of
exposure can land him a permanent ride of his own after a trying season
last year. The series heads into the Family Arena in St. Charles,
Missouri this weekend where the tie for first place will likely shake
down. Another rider in that series looking for a piece of that lead is
Texas native, Tommy Hofmaster. He currently sits 22 points out, but has
looked strong thus far. Tommy will also join us tonight for his take on
the opening round and the rest of the season as the series heads to the
Sunshine State of Missouri, known for its white sandy beaches.
Join us live every Wednesday at 9pm or check out the archives at your
convenience. A special thanks to our longtime friend, Pat "Shoots"
Schutte, for his help on the show this week.
