Making Moves: Chisholm Filling in for Grant
Thursday, February 21, 2013 | 8:30 AMHUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – Kyle Chisholm will join the Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX Team beginning this Saturday for round eight of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship in Atlanta, Ga. Chisholm, already riding a Yamaha in the series will substitute for Josh Grant.
Grant was injured at the third Anaheim round of the tour suffering a broken ankle and a shoulder contusion. Grant heroically attempted to race the previous two rounds but was unable to due to the pain his shoulder was generating. Upon reevaluation by his doctors it was found that a rare condition was present within the shoulder that requires surgery to correct. Grant will return to racing once he is fully recovered and fit for competition.
“Josh showed a ton of heart trying to ride through this shoulder injury, not to mention his ankle,” said team owner Coy Gibbs. “His health is the main concern, he should be 100 percent for the outdoors. In the meantime we are excited to have Kyle come on board. He was available and already familiar with the Yamaha so it’s a perfect fit,” Gibbs added.
"I am really excited. I can't thank Jeremy, Coy and the whole JGRMX team enough for giving me this opportunity! I can't wait to get on the bike, get out there and do my best! I also want to wish Josh all the best on his recovery!" said Chisholm.
Kyle will join Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX rider Justin Brayton this Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Ga. SPEED will air the entire race live starting at 7:30 p.m. (EST). Supercross Live will begin streaming from Atlanta at 2:00 p.m. (EST) on supercrossonline.com.Did you like this article?

It's too bad that Grant being injured is not a rare condition. I hope he's back for the outdoors.
Going from one YZ to another, we'll see how much it helps Kyle results. Since he likes Yamahas, this team seems like a good fit.
I really like this JGR team. They have a habit of helping riders out with giving them near factory rides. It's great for the sport, and JGR doesn't seem to be the typical selfish factory persona. It's obvious they maintain good relationships with their riders.. I want nothing more than to see JGR start to win like Pro Circuit and Geico.
Good oppurtunity for Chiz, he is a good guy... but hasnt he been out injured the past few weeks as well with a shoulder injury?
So Grant is out until the outdoors.....
Yeah, Grant will be back for outdoors but what are the odds of him finishing the whole series sans injury. Does anyone know his deal with JGR? 1 or 2 years? If it's 1 year then he's in trouble. Honestly, what top team would risk this guy at this point. He's not "young" anymore and there are plenty of 250 riders with more upside and less injuries.
Also, what is the deal with Chizzy's current team Velocity 3? There have been rumours of demise, but I assume since both V3 and JGR are Yamaha-backed this deal is sort of easy to pull off.
hamncheeze
RCH would they seem to pic winners ! Lol...
Bummer, thought after outdoors and the MEC that Josh would have a break out year in sx.
@Glock26...lol its really bad when Josh Grant would be an improvement over what they have lol
Can we stick a fork in Josh Grant already please?
After this, the only guy left who hasn't ridden for JGR is me. And I'm not interested. lol
It's too bad JG is hurt . I feel for the guy after watching THE MOTO episode he was featured in . But does he have what it takes to be at the top of this sport ? It seems that RV , RD , DM , CR and a few others are at another level of speed .
I think the Yamahas are in need of a makeover. I vote for JGR to get aboard Suzukis .
Them blue bikes are not right. That's my .02 after watching a lot of guys ride them. Best thing Millsaps ever did was get on the Banana.
supersxfan man, have you raced one in a moto?
I dont mean down the lot. There is little wrong with them , plenty of other riders around the world have won chaimpionships on it.
Agree totally, rickamatuzio. Hope 'Chiz' does well.
