CORONA, Calif., – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki is excited to both welcome back familiar faces and inject new blood into its legendary and championship-winning program.
Martin Davalos and Justin Hill will be the newest faces under the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki tent in 2013, and will join Blake Baggett, Darryn Durham, Tyla Rattray and Dean Wilson in the hunt for the 2013 Monster Energy AMA Supercross and Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships.
The Champ
Fresh off helping earn bronze for Team USA at the 2012 Motocross of Nations held in Belgium, Baggett brings the momentum of the 2012 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross 250 Class Championship into the 2013 season. Baggett made history during the motocross season by holding on to the 250 class points lead for 11 consecutive rounds. He finished fourth in the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross Lites (now dubbed 250SX) East Championship and will enter his fourth season as a pro, making him an integral member of the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team.
The Joker
Darryn Durham will also be returning in 2013. The Pennsylvania native, who earned a career-first supercross win with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki at the New Orleans round of the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross season, is excited to return with the team. Durham’s fun and outgoing personality is a great addition to the group and always brings excitement to the track.
“I’m excited to be part of the team,” said Durham. “Everyone works their butt off to win. I look forward to going racing again and trying to bring home a championship!”
The Veteran
Hailing from Ecuador, Martin Davalos is a new addition to the team, but brings with him the experience of competing in the 250 class. This may be his last year in the class, so he is focused on making this his best year to date.
“I’m pretty excited to be part of the team,” said Davalos. “This is a great opportunity for me, and probably my last chance in this class, so I have to make it count. I’m very thankful that I’ve been given the opportunity, and I’m looking forward to the start of the season.”
The Rookie
This will be Justin Hill’s very first year in the pro ranks. He is ready to move up to the big league after a successful amateur career that was molded by the legendary Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green amateur motocross program. Hill’s goal of competing with the professionals has finally come to fruition, as he will make his pro debut in 2013 with Monster Energy/ Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki.
“I’m excited to be part of the winningest team in moto history,” said Hill. “I’m confident that I will learn a lot from everyone in my transition from amateur to professional.”
A New Dynasty
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki is well known for its dominance in the 250 class, but 2012 marked a historical year for the team as they fielded their first 450 class rider. The team will continue its presence in the class with the return of Dean Wilson and Tyla Rattray in 2013. Wilson, the 2011 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross 250 Class Champion, and Rattray have both seen success with the team, and are excited to be part of a new chapter in Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s legendary program. Both will compete in the 250SX class during the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross series, and will move up to the 450 class for the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series in the hopes of starting a new tradition of dominance to complement the team’s already illustrious history.
The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team will make its 2013 debut during the opening round of the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross Series, which will be held Saturday, January 5, at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.

The 2013 SX/MX season should be epic if everyone stays healthy...
That's a big if. Here's to all of them staying in comp though.
Tyla Rattray is still eligible for the 250 SX class? Hasn't he been racing in that class for several years now? Same question goes for Davalos.
After winning a world championship, Grant Langston ran the 125/Lites class for 17 1/2 years.
I think Rattray has been in the smaller class since 2002. I don't understand what he is still doing in this class, they should force him to move up.
Wilson and Rattray on 450's outdoors.... Best decision Mitch has made in a long time. Its about time PC made a real 450 effort even if its only one series.
Did I miss something? I thought Wilson signed with Jeff Ward?
Man six riders in the 250SX class. Mitch must really want that SX title back.
I cant believe Davalos and Rattrey are BOTH still in the 250 class. Rattrey even ran this class a few years in the GP's before coming here.. Its cherry-picking at its finest.. I know Rattray is already 27 years old.. Racing against kids.. Not sure how old Davalos is but its time to move on guys..
rules say you are allowed to race the lites class until you have won a championship then you're supposed to be out the next year if it's been over 3 years since competing in the lites class. rattray and davalos have never won a championship, so they can stay in. dean won the outdoor championship in 2011, and he is only eligible to race the lites class in sx, just like how tickle was in the lites class for a lil while, he won the lites sx and then the next year he raced the 450's. so quit crying, besides rattray hasnt completed one full year of lites sx, why would he even consider moving to a bigger bike for sx if he hasnt finished a season on a smaller bike? its easy guys, you just gotta think about it.
Gb253-
You are incorrect... You can race in the SX lites class, until you point out. Has nothing to do with a championship !! If someone wins a championship in their rookie season, they can come back and defend it the next year. Tickle pointed out, that's why he rode the 450.
Anyone can ride the lites class outdoors, doesn't matter how long or how many points/ championships you win.
I'm not sure what 3 years has to do with anything, but if Wilson wanted to race a 250 the rest of his career, he could do that.
It's easy... All you have to do, is look in the AMA rule book. Lol
I am very impressed with Mitch and the Pro Circuit gang for stepping up to give rides to Wilson and Rattray. Both riders were linked and/or signed to other teams in the silly season, both were injured and missed a lot of racing in 2012 (while on PC/Kawi). It would have been easy for PC to just say, "too bad boys, we are a Lites team" but instead they go even bigger for 2013. Full props to Mitch, Bones and everyone involved.
Eli Tomac is going to have his hands full with guys on green bikes in 2013, Geico/FC Honda better hope that Justin Bogle figures it out and Zach Osborne is the real deal.
Gb253--You just got schooled..must not be as easy as you thought..LOL!! I dont care how many points a guy has scored.. You shouldnt be able to race for factory teams and race the small bike class for 10 years.. And thats just AMA. Rattray is a GP (world) Champion.. He needs to move on.. He is probably taking a ride from a young up and comer.. Just because Pro_Circut wants to buy another supercross title..
Every year, people bring up the same thing, "How come this guy can still race 250s?" and usually someone does a good job of explaining it like langhammx just did, but it doesn't seem to stick.
Wilson and Rattray are doing things backwards compared to before there was a 125 SX class to speak of. I'm pretty sure that Barnett and O'Mara both won the 250 SX crowns while racing the 125 class outdoors. The seasons were intertwined, so they'd be switching bikes back and forth during the season. Except for the occasional 250 guy that gets a taste of a 450 on the other coast, that would be pretty much unheard of these days.
Of course whether they can race 250s and whether they should are totally different discussions.
Lamson and Dymond are both big-bike riders that dropped down and won multiple 125 titles. Team Honda was the class powerhouse during those years, like PC is today.
Wilson did sign to jeff ward racing but when kawi pulled privateer/satellite team funding jwr decided to call it quits. and as far as rattray goes, he really hasn't raced much supercross, he's been PC's outdoor specialist for the most part. maybe he likes riding the 250 better. I'm not on the level with these guy's but I'd race a 250 anyday over a 450 they're way more fun.
Guys, its a matter of available rides. Do you really expect a guy like Davalos to move up to the 450 if no one is offering him a ride? Either go the privateer route on a 450 or be on a great team on a 250. Not a hard choice. Same for Rattray. Rules are rules, if they are still eligable to race the class then they must not be scoring enough points. I don't have a problem with someone like Davalos riding the 250 class if someone is willing to give him a ride.
Wilson and Ratty really both need to be on 4fitys but were tryin to sell some 250f's with thousand dollars (min) pipes and go fast stuff folks.....keepin the mechanics and parts sales alive and well.....Davalos...really...i'll see it when I believe it....! Happy Thanksgiving to you ALL.....!!!!!!
I dont know why guys keep bringing up Wilson, he is fine for the 250 class.. He hasnt won a supercross regional yet anyway.. My big complaint is Rattray, and Davalos, they are veterans.. Especially Rattray, he is sandbagging in my opinion.. He won a GP Title for Christs sake.. And that was 10 years ago I think.. He needs to move up.. Actually I think he won in 2008, but he has 10 years in that class....
i would have to think that deano and rattray are only doing what the boss says to do . if the boss says your riding a 250 in supercross then i would have to think they are riding a 250 . we all know deano wants to race the 450 class, but is racing the 250 . so what the boss says goes !!!! plus we know rattray is not an indoor kind of guy and has a much better shot at the 250 title indoors and would be a 8th to 15th place guy in the 450 supercross . deano is fast indoors but by being out for the 2012 season has him questionable (speed wise) for the start of the season. i think by letting them run the 250 class will allow them to race and gain confidence for the 450 outdoor season. and they will need that going in to the outdoors . plus i think that we will see deano run the 450 when they travel to the east coast . 250 class or 450 class it does not matter, what matters is that all the riders stay healthy and with either class we will see an epic racing season one the could be the greatest of all time !!!!!!
If PC does not win both the 250 SX and MX titles in 2013, there is a rumor going around that PC plans to sign EVERYONE in 2014.

You can point out in 250SX. Page 36
This is PRO racing. It's not local racing for fun where people sandbag and cherry pick for a cheap plastic trophy. A rider has to ride in a class, on a team, and on a bike to get paid and make a living. You can't expect a rider to move up a class and be a privateer hauling out of a box van for no money just to give some young guy a chance to shine. Some of these guys have a wife and kids to support. Hell, Rattray may have grandkids by now. They have to go where the money is and they can make a good paycheck.
I can understand Mitch Payton having all his riders on the 250s. I wouldn't feel comfortable with riders I invested money and time in being on a supercross track at the same time as JS7. Who knows where that tumbling, riderless, cart-wheeling Suzuki is going to crash down. 450 supercross is scary!
