Some bad luck for Stewart. He might ride better knowing that he doesn't need to worry about the championship.
That's got be getting embarrassing for the once proud Team Suzuki. Dungey had his mechanical issues in 2011, Metcalfe got hurt because of a mechanical last year, and now this.
Great ride by RV, but he didn't gain much on the ever-consistent Millsaps (never thought I'd be describing him that way).
stewie no luck on yellow, just switch to the red
its allway negative talk on here maybe he should switch to red what a stupid thing to say
I thought Stewart had it in the bag tonight. Suzuki should be embarrassed to bring the bike to on line to discover a mechanical. Am sure Japan will roll some heads over this.
Great job to RV, Milsaps ands Dungey!
Reed must be frustrated, he looked good too and gave it up to Milsaps and Dungey.
Reed is done. He can't run with the Big Boys up front anymore for 20 laps. D O N E. As to JS7, it wasn't a clutch problem. They SAID it was the clutch - or at least he said it, but there's more to the story than that. But we may never know. All we know is that tonight, RV kicked tail, DM held on and the fans got cheated out of a better race.
@SuperSxfanman, how in the world do you know it wasn't a cluch problem??? Were you in the pits with Stewart?
Doesn't the points leader ride a Suzuki?
superSX - I see your point but how do you know there is more to it than that? I think Reed's conditioning is not quite up to par with the other riders...has anyone else noticed that he has a little gut going on? (definitely not much of a gut but compared to the other riders). There have been so many issues with Suzuki mechanicals the past few years hasn't there?...lets see, Dungey's bike not making it to the line on time a couple outdoors ago, the gas problem with both metcalf and dungey, the clutch for stewart...all-the-while, I can't remember any of the top factories having any problems in the 450 class. I think Stewie could've won tonight for sure...he just can't catch a break this season to save his life. All the Stewie haters out there have to at least acknowledge the fact that Stewie's had a good attitude about all this and is giving it his all with no excuses.
some people write stupid stuff do you really think the whole team is going to lie about the clutch your an idiot
cant they replace a clutch in ten min.
@tgq25, am sure if they had 10 mins to spare they could have, but did they??? It seems it broke seconds before the gate dropped
since when is not putting enough gas in a "bike problem"? Wait didn't Dungey's KTM almost run out of gas? Sounds like #5 is a gas hog.
It "broke" before everyone fired up the bikes. But AFTER they rode the bike to the gate. That's how you know something is strange. Do the math.
Do you all know how often a rider is asked to help out a teammate by not winning, or playing spoiler? Ask Bob Hannah. It happens, I assure you. If they asked or told JS7 not to win, what do you think he would do? Would he tank the race on purpose? Would he pull ahead and then "fall" on purpose - like Hannah did? Or would he just walk off and refuse to race? Think about it.
@ SA11, Dungey crashed knocking his gas cap loose and spilling gas into the Southwick sands. Which is different than the time his gas boiled off at Texas ( DeCoster was the manager then) but Metcalf was because someone at Suzuki put the wrong tank on his practice bike, so it couldn't hold enough gas for a 30 minute practice moto. Not making excuses for Stewart but Suzuki is know for weak clutches. Breaking at the line after the ride over, team Suzuki fail ! Caveman and Dung for the title but that could change after Daytona.
JS7 is not anywhere near being a factor in the title hunt. Don't see that being a realistic scenario.
Super SX Fan - do you think the govt was involved in 9/11?...just curious
Slarvewhatever: Do you think gravity is real or imaginary?
Last year I said Reed was fat and he went out and won LA that weekend. He always looks a little more thick than the other guys. Maybe he needs to get on the Baker program, he took RV from a chubby ginger to a lean mean SX machine and he even found a few extra grams to shed on a whippet like Weimer. Seriously, the guys who Baker coaches are super lean.
Having said that, I think Reed is done in the this title fight. He's been crying bike and setup for 6 races, but come on man, a veteran like you should be able to nail down your setup by now. Especially with the staff he has - Lars, Goose, and Oscar. 3 guys who could be lead mechanics anywhere.
slarveson, you beat me to it. But I assume the guy is kidding.
Don't forget the chain issue Dungey had in the 2011 supercross season with Suzuki. BTW, I wonder what component actually failed in Stuart's clutch... These things are are built to handle serious abuse. I can't imagine it not being a human assembly error.
Sucks, I was really looking forward to seeing Stuart bust out with a dominating performance. He deserves to get on the top of the box at least a couple of times this season. Despite what some may say about him, he seems like a genuinely cool dude.
There will be plenty of info on what happened to Stewart's bike this week, but it's useless to speculate. I've had plenty of brand new parts break on me the first time I've used them. Nothing that could have been done to prevent it. In the manufacturing industry, parts like that are called "flyers". Something works fine 99 out of 100 times, but there's always that one time.
@MX40, well said!
@SXFANman--You really believe Stewie was asked NOT TO WIN?????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! Why woulkd they do that?? Not for Millsaps--he isnt factory Suzuki--he gets not help from them either.. Like Stewart would have won anyway!!!! He hasnt even hit the podium and YOU say he was asked not to win!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That is why he didnt race?? Maybe with the 2 crashes he suffered in practice trying to run with the big boys he hurt himself again?? Maybe, truth is YOU DONT KNOW!!!!!
The funny part is you are so clueless you dont even realize Stewart and Millsaps ARE NOT TEAMMATES.... LOL!!!!!! You have no clue..
@therealmofo - Well said....except the part about Stewie being hurt....pretty sure he won his heat race and that was after practice...other than that, well said...
Depending on what type of clutch they are using (Rekluse, hydraulic actuated, etc....) there are lots of opportunities for things to go wrong inside the cases or out. If it is a standard clutch, which I am pretty sure it isn't, they are pretty straight forwards and not a lot to have fail other than assembly issues. James doesn't hardly use the clutch so hard to tell what the issue really is. Sucks he got the DNS though.
No matter what happens, it is really fun to watch the Stewtards implode and continue to make excuses. Racing is better with James out there for sure but his little sheep get pretty pathetic defending him at every turn.....Entertaining but pathetic.
@therealmofo: I'm not interested in what you think. You don't seem to know much about this sport at the team / pro level.
@SuperSX--Starplays4life--HAHAHAHA!! And you think you do?? HAHAHHA!! A guy who says Stewart is told to NOT win the title by Suzuki--and you say somebody else doesnt know much about the sport??? What a joke..You actually belive that Stewart and Millsaps are teammates, and you accuse somone else of not knowing whats going on..What a clown, when Stewarts gone so will you.. one-rider fan
