The revolutionary new 6D ATR-1 helmet made its professional racing debut Saturday night at the first round of the 2013 AMA Supercross series with GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac and Zach Osborne. Tomac rocketed into the lead early and never looked back, taking a wire to wire victory in stunning fashion with his new helmet. Eli commented on the confidence he has in the 6D helmet, which incorporates 6D’s proprietary ‘ODS’ suspension technology. “I’m extremely excited to be wearing the new 6D. I’m aware of the benefits it offers in a crash circumstance, but I also like the fit, feel, and function of the helmet as part of my race arsenal. They’ve done an excellent job building a competition helmet.”
Osborne recovered after a first turn mishap to charge through the pack for a hard fought 7th place overall finish. Zach worked his way past 13 competitors during the main event with a cool head and precise racing. Zach placed 2nd in his heat race earlier in the program and rode strong and consistent all night.
The 6D ATR-1 helmet brings an entirely new concept in helmet technology to the athlete. It’s designed to be more compliant to lower-threshold energy demands while still providing all of the necessary protection for extreme impacts. The 6D ATR-1’s ‘Omni-Directional Suspension’ system significantly reduces critical angular acceleration energy providing additional protection from injury, a function traditional helmet designs are not equipped to address.
6D Helmets is a company dedicated to the health and welfare of motorcyclists everywhere and owns the unique patent-pending ‘ODS’ (Omni-Directional Suspension) technology. 6D’s goal is to provide the public with superior safety helmets from both a technological and design perspective.
