Did the 2023 AMA Pro Motocross opener just preview the future, or is it the new present?

By the time you read this, you’ll know if the narrative held, but we like the odds. The Fox Raceway opener for the 2023 AMA Pro Motocross Championship featured the Lawrence brothers, Chase Sexton, and Haiden Deegan as the top two finishers in each class. This sport has been trending older with its contenders, but at this race the dam finally broke. The pack of 30-something vets, led by Eli Tomac, ran into trouble late in Monster Energy Supercross. When the outdoor season began, some were absent, some weren’t ready, and some of them just plain got beat.
Lawrence/Sexton/Deegan? That could be the future right there, but for as quick as this takeover happened, it wasn’t surprising.
